The Mailly-Champagne geological discovery trail

As you jump on the 4,3 kilometers from the discovery trail of Mailly-Champagne, an astonishing (but very real!) story is revealed to you. Interpretation panels in French and English tell you about the richness of the soils which carry your steps: from real geological millefeuilles, born from the variety of climates which have succeeded one another millennium after millennium.

This sparkling walk is also a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the vineyards and forests that surround you, today inhabited by many animal and plant species. Keep your eyes peeled for them!

La Cave aux Coquillages, a fantastic curiosity in Fleury-la-Rivière

Go back in time to immerse yourself in the remains of an ancient tropical sea, does that tempt you? In Fleury-la-Rivière, in any case, it is entirely possible… For this, head to the Shell Cellar, nestled a few meters underground!

This place, as incredible as it is unusual, is home to thousands of fossils from the Lutetian era, which are more than… 40 million years old! Patiently unearthed over the years by the owner of the place, these shells come from the warm waters which once covered the Montagne de Reims. Among them are more than 300 species, from a few millimeters long to several tens of centimeters.
