Here's a refreshing micro-adventure, where hiking and cycling can combine wonderfully! Embark on this escapade from Châlons-en-Champagne or Dormans, not far from the Montagne de Reims, taking the Véloroute de la Vallée de la Marne.
There, following the Marne and its side canal, you will discover the Parc de la Montagne de Reims in a whole new light. The surrounding area is full of things to see: here are many suggestions for stops. Good luck to you, dear micro-adventurers!
💡 To take it easy with complete peace of mind once there, it's up to you to compose your dream program in advance based on our proposed stops. Plan your catering points, refueling points and overnight stays according to your circuit. Please note, some of these stages require leaving the Véloroute, on foot or by bike.
Châtillon-sur-Marne (about 5 km from the Véloroute)
To get yourself warmed up, there's nothing like choosing the walking and hiking loop (PR) around Châtillon-sur-Marne as a first step! This lovely 8 kilometer walk will allow you to greet the statue of Pope Urban II, which overlooks the surroundings and offers you a pleasant panorama. For a well-deserved picnic, stop at the viewpoint on the edge of the forest at Binson-et-Orquigny : your eyes will be able to savor the landscape!
Heritage trail “Escapades du Parc”
We love coming up with ideas for themed itineraries! “Park Escapades” travel diaries take you on a journey back in time, to explore the history and built heritage of the remarkable villages of the Montagne de Reims. Among these routes, wander for example on those of Venteuil, Hautvillers and Aÿ-Champagne.

Creative people at heart will succumb to this 2-hour hiking tour like no other! 10 inspiring spots punctuate the 6 kilometers of this Hautvillers trail, between vineyard and Forêt d’Exception®. There, it's up to you to play by drawing pencils, erasers, brushes and white sheets of paper: by following the tips and challenges offered at each stage, you learn to draw sublime landscapes around like professionals!
Ay-Champagne
This charming town, labeled Small Town of Character, is full of points of interest to admire! Nestled in the heart of historic hillsides listed as a UNESCO world heritage site, it is good to stroll around for a few hours. The visit of Pressoria, a true sensory ode to the famous Champagne sparkling wine, stands out as an exciting extraordinary experience!
Mareuil-sur-Aÿ
In this delightful village, the rich nuances oftypical architecture from the Montagne de Reims! Along the canal which borders its vines particularly steep, the landscape is breathtaking... Moreover, speaking of breathing, remember to breathe well when you reach the statue of the Virgin and Child at the top of Mont du Gruguet. Your reward on arrival: a splendid 360°C view!
Tours-sur-Marne
So stop at Nambly natural site for a pleasant discovery ! This wetland is a vast hay meadow, nestled in one of the meanders of the Marne. The fauna and flora found there are carefully protected by the municipality and the Park!
