The Montagne de Reims Regional Natural Park unveils its brand new mascot: a Yellow-bellied Toad, a small toad protected and present in the territory of the Montagne de Reims.

For three years now, the Park has been studying this protected species..

From its Latin name Bombina variegata and of the Bombinatoridae family, the Yellow-bellied Toad is a species of amphibian whose the population remains threatened and fragile despite preservation efforts.

Present in Europe, this species lives mainly in the ruts, puddles and waterholes in forest.

Although populations are present on our territory, They remain vulnerable to the degradation of their habitats and climate change.

A mascot to raise awareness

Faced with this observation, it was imperative for the Park to launch an awareness campaign, to better raise awareness and protect this toad.

To do this, the Park team joined forces with the Mixigram agency to jointly imagine a future mascot, in the image of the Yellow-bellied Toad.

This strategic choice aims to make it friendly and accessible, to create an emotional connection with residents and visitors, and to raise awareness of the actions taken to safeguard it.
