In the program "For New Ruralities“, supported by the Region and the 6 Regional Natural Parks of the Grand Est, the town of Trépail and the Parc de la Montagne de Reims welcomed the Nou(e)s collective responsible for leading a new architectural and landscape residence, after that of Chamery in 2021.

This approach, bringing together each residence supported by the Parks, aims to revitalize rural areas by encouraging the emergence of pilot operations which support the transition challenges of the Grand Est territory.

Concerning themes such as reinvestment of vacant assets, the enhancement of public spaces, the diversification of housing or the restructuring of the offer of services and businesses, the residence mobilized elected officials, residents and local stakeholders around the construction of a new “rural narrative”.

It is this story that the collective We, composed of 4 young architects, has worked with the Park and the municipality since June.

Over 4 periods, the residency, designed as an exploratory and participatory study, both in immersion and in a workshop, allowed to question the issues linked to the local living environment.

Everyone was invited to debate to create a common municipal project and develop strategic orientations for the years to come. These meetings were an opportunity to rich and positive reflections but also friendly moments of sharing!

The final restitution was held on Friday October 7 in the presence of around sixty people and the president of Grand Reims, Ms. Catherine Vautrin. The scenario presented proposes varying degrees of intervention in the short, medium and long term with several options allowing the project to be adapted over time. Around the school town hall building which could accommodate a program combining administrative premises, associative space, small local shops and housing, developments have been planned to open up the old schoolyards and reinvest the village square. There quality of work achieved was praised by everyone and in particular by Mr. Denis Boudville, the mayor of Trépail.

In order to continue this very positive dynamic, an appointment has already been made between the Park and the municipality.

It will now be about define the first interventions to be carried out as well as the studies to be considered in order to implement this beautiful shared project as quickly as possible.
