Orchards have, in many aspects, great ecological advantages,
economic, agronomic and landscape. They have always been part of
landscape of the Montagne de Reims, historically for production
rustic fruits and varieties renowned for their quality. They have
gradually disappeared from the hillsides in favor of the vineyard, but
a few orchards still remain
Among its missions, the Montagne de Reims Regional Natural Park studies, protects and enhances the natural environments of our territory to promote biodiversity. As part of the preservation and
restoration of the Green and Blue Network, the Park publishes a technical guide on conservatory orchards for individuals, communities, businesses and farmers.
In order to preserve the indigenous biodiversity and fruit heritage of the Montagne de Reims territory, local and regional fruit varieties are presented to you in this booklet.
Throughout the pages, you will be able to discover the different services provided by orchards and learn how to design, plant and maintain hardy fruit trees adapted to the territory.
