Since 2019, the Montagne de Reims Regional Natural Park has been working on the development, with public and private stakeholders in the territory, of a Territorial Forest Charter in order to link and cohere all forestry initiatives and policies in the region. territory of the Marnais Triangle.
The efficient use of forest resources, the preservation of biodiversity, the promotion of businesses and sustainable economic development are major issues in the region.
The Marnais Triangle Territorial Forestry Charter is a tool available to elected officials which will make it possible to initiate, in cooperation with local stakeholders and those in the forest-timber sector, a coherent strategic project for the Marnais Triangle in favor of a forest multifunctional, and to translate it into a multi-annual action program. It is a tool for sustainable planning and development of territories, further integrating forests into their economic, ecological, social,
cultural and heritage.
The CFTs, introduced by Law No. 2001-602 of July 9, 2001, have been linked to local forestry development strategies since Law No. 2010-874 of July 27, 2010 on the modernization of agriculture and fishing.
The territory of the Triangle Marnais was identified as relevant, because the majority of companies in the territory are not located in the territory of the PnrMR, but rather close to the urban areas of Reims, Épernay and Châlons-en-Champagne.
The partners participated in the development of territorial diagnoses covering the different components of forest multifunctionality (economy, sustainable management, sustainable tourism, social, history and heritage). The issues defined from these diagnoses made it possible to carry out a program
multi-annual action plan, which was shared with the FE project contract. This document covers the shared actions of the CFT action program and the FE project contract.
